PITTSBURGH — As a result of the national emergency relating to COVID-19, effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Pollock Begg has enacted a remote work policy for all of its employees pending further notice. While the day-to-day operations at our physical location have changed, our commitment to our clients has not.

We appreciate your trust in our family law firm and want to assure our clients and colleagues of our ability to remain in contact and continue to provide seamless service while doing our part to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and colleagues.

In this new work environment, our office will not be physically open for third party, opposing counsel, clients or others. If you do have an appointment with us, or wish to schedule one, rest assured we can still accommodate your needs and handle via remote conference with no disruption of service. Please contact the attorney specifically assigned to your case via telephone or email and he/she will be able to respond accordingly with alternative remote conference options. All members of the firm will still be accessible by email or telephone and can return calls remotely.

If you have not considered alternative dispute resolution options previously, this may be a method of resolving your case that you can discuss with your attorney. Our team of family law attorneys are also well-versed in alternative dispute procedures such as Collaborative LawMediation and Arbitration which eliminate the need for court policies, schedules and procedures.

As of March 18, 2020, The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has directed that all Courts are CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC from March 19 through at least April 3. There are certain exceptions which include Temporary Protection from Abuse hearings, Emergency Petitions for custody or pursuant to any provisions of the Juvenile Act. According to the Supreme Court, any pretrial conferences, status conferences, discovery motions or other motions that can proceed using advanced technology may and should proceed.

As always, we are committed to remaining nimble and flexible in our responses while adhering to the guidelines set forth by our federal, state and local governments. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

In addition to the recommendations on protecting yourself from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, think about managing your mental stress during this time as well. Stress can be destructive without healthy coping mechanisms. In this time in particular when your normal support system may be abnormal, consider using meditation podcasts, streaming relaxing nature sounds, or taking an online yoga class (some local studios are offering virtual classes). Focus on the positive, know that by staying home you are doing something for the greater good and that we are all in this together.
