Pittsburgh Divorce Attorney Brian Vertz Appointed President AAML, PA Chapter

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh divorce attorney Brian C. Vertz has been appointed president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers – Pennsylvania Chapter. Vertz, a partner at downtown Pittsburgh family law firm Pollock Begg Komar Glasser & Vertz LLC and fellow of AAML since 2003, previously held secretary, second vice president and president-elect positions within the organization.

He will continue as national chair of the Amicus Committee of AAML and co-chair of the national AAML Practice & Technology Committee. Vertz was recently elected to the board of directors of the national AAML Foundation, the organization’s charitable arm, and serves as a member of its Fundraising and Long-Range Planning committees. Vertz is also a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

A nationally respected authority on family law tax strategy, Vertz spent the majority of this year speaking on the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which overhauls the tax benefits of alimony, radically impacting divorce law. He is author of family law tax strategy guidebook “Frumkes & Vertz on Divorce Taxation” and the blog FamilyLawTaxAlert.com.

The AAML advocates policies promoting the rights of children and families facing divorce. AAML membership is limited to those recognized by judges and attorneys as prominent family law practitioners with a high level of knowledge, skill and integrity. There are currently only 1,650 fellows amongst 50 states.
