PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh family law firm Pollock Begg made an impressive showing in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in America with seven of the firm’s divorce attorneys named to the prestigious guide. Pollock Begg partners captured special recognition for their mediation and arbitration work.

Partners Todd M. BeggDaniel H. GlasserCandice L. KomarDavid S. PollockHeather Trostle SmithBrian C. Vertz and Joseph R. Williams each earned spots in the 2023 guide released today by Best Lawyers.

Attorneys on The Best Lawyers in America list are divided by geographic region and practice areas, reviewed by their peers based on professional expertise and undergo an authentication process to ensure they are in current practice and in good standing. Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers has developed a reputation as the most reliable, unbiased source of legal referrals.

Pollock Begg leadership has maintained space in the prestigious guides since Pollock first made the list 26 years ago.

“We’re pleased to consistently have so many of our professionals appear in the Best Lawyers listings,” said Pollock Begg Partner Joseph R. Williams, who celebrates his fifth year of recognition in 2023. “We’re proud of all our team has accomplished over the past year and congratulate Dan and Todd on their notable achievement of ‘Lawyer of the Year’ distinction.”

Based on particularly impressive voting averages received during peer review assessments, Glasser was selected as Pittsburgh “Lawyer of the Year” in Family Law Arbitration, while Begg received the designation for Family Law Mediation. Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year,” making this accolade especially significant.

Begg is a founding member of Pollock Begg known for using his background in psychology and sociology and three decades of courtroom experience to resolve complex custody and equitable distribution cases. He is particularly skilled in cases requiring expert testimony to address substantial issues such as addiction, mental illness and abuse, and has tried some of the most extensive custody cases in Pennsylvania.

Also, a founding member of Pollock Begg, Glasser has negotiated and tried family law cases involving complex economic issues such as business valuation, tax and equitable distribution for more than two decades. He has also negotiated and litigated custody matters and briefed and argued numerous appeals in appellate courts. He was named Pittsburgh’s Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” for Family Law in 2022.

Over the years, several other Pollock Begg partners have achieved “Lawyer of the Year” honors. In 2022, Komar was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Family Law Mediation and Williams took the honor in Family Law Arbitration. Vertz was awarded the Pittsburgh “Lawyer of the Year” title in Family Law in 2019.
